The country’s film industry is getting stagnant in its initial stage. Due to lack of the quality, Afghani movies could not attract the market yet. A large number of the movies are produced by amateur cinematographers who lack academic knowledge about the cinema. Luckily most of the cinematographers who nominated their movies to the festival are young people who studied cinema in Afghanistan and Iran. The new generation of Afghanistan cinematographers studied cinema as an academic study and are more very motivated to continue.
The Mehragan film festival is the only national event of its kind, conducted in Kabul for the second time. The first festival held in 2013. Due to security issues, the secretary of the festival could not conduct the festival last year.
